SynapSet asks for an identity before it asks for a habit. You describe the person you're trying to become by typing it, writing it by hand, or saying it out loud in your own voice. Every habit you add afterwards hangs off that description and off a routine you already have.

Features

Identity in your voice

Type it, handwrite it, or record it and keep your own voice on file. Whatever you put down stays attached to the habits filed underneath it.

Chained to existing routines

A new habit attaches to one you already do without thinking, and inherits a slot in the day that already works. You have one thing to remember instead of two.

Time and place triggers

A habit can fire at a set time, when you arrive somewhere, or after another event. Finishing it earns a reward. Place triggers keep working while the app sits in the background.

Progress you can audit

Stats, streaks and achievement badges. The useful part is spotting the habit that stopped three weeks ago while you weren't looking, back when restarting it was still easy.

Location is optional

The permission prompt says what location is for, background place triggers included, before it asks for anything. Turn it down and the rest of the app still works. The privacy policy lists what gets collected and why.

Who it's for

  • Anyone who has restarted the same habit four times and wants it tied to a routine that holds
  • People who abandoned a streak app the week the streak broke
  • Anyone who wants place-based reminders but is careful about background location
  • Someone chasing a health or career goal that only moves through daily repetition
