Kanken Mainichi
Start at grade 10 and work your way down to 1.
The Kanji Kentei numbers its grades backwards. Grade 10 covers the kanji a Japanese first-grader learns and grade 1 is the hardest, with twelve grades in all between them. Kanken Mainichi has every one of them, in sessions short enough to finish between stations.
Features
The same kanji, many ways
Kanji to meaning, meaning to kanji, assembling compounds, compound to reading, reading to compound, and on through the rest of the twenty-three formats. Recognizing a character and being able to produce it are different skills, and the drills hit both.
Tracing and flashcards
Stroke practice advances one stroke at a time while you trace the character on screen. Flashcards show a single character large, with its readings, its meanings and one example.
Every grade, 10 to 1
Twelve grades, from 10 at first-grade kanji down to 1. Grades 10 through 7 are free with ads. Premium opens the rest and drops the ads, by the month, by the year, or bought outright.
A profile per person
Families share devices. Each profile carries its own grade and its own progress, so two people studying at once never land in each other's history.
Definitions checked by hand
The September 2026 update corrected 1,319 definitions across all twelve grades, one entry at a time, where machine translation from English had produced the wrong sense. Another 130 words came out as unfit for study.
